Talking to the gods

Stone gods small

Talking to the gods is an attempt to reach beyond the purely personal. ‘The gods’ are towering figures, who although obviously human, touch the divine in those who encounter them. The result isn’t always worship or respect; it may be anger, confusion, despair or cynicism. Whether light-hearted or serious or both, each poem  asks a question, either directly or by implication.

Some of these poems have been described by those who like technical jargon as ‘ekphrastic’. I’ll just say they are my responses to the gods in music, dance, sculpture, visual art: any art that moves me.
