70th birthday

When you turned seventy   did
your four sons send cards
with good wishes and the names
of their wives and sons and daughters
inscribed?  Perhaps they sent telegrams
across the distance?  Or were they
not speaking to you by then?
When you turned seventy   did
your wife in Launceston
write you a letter   did she
visit you at your London hotel
or had you sneaked back home
on that official visit you so enjoyed?
Did you tell her you were
a father again
your baby daughter less than a week old
when you turned seventy.
